Modern archivists are specialists who adequately implement the task of digitalization of the state, which has become a global trend. The study, based on a survey and interviews of employees of the state archives of Kazakhstan, examines the impact of information technology on archivists. The professionalism of Kazakh archivists simultaneously working with paper and electronic documents is one of the important components of their professional vocation. It is not yet entirely clear what changes the digital transformation will bring to the work of archives. Therefore, this research, which requires a long period of research, is intended to contribute to the development of the archival field. The results of the study empirically confirm the positive impact of information technology on the work of archivists. However, they require a critical investigation into the role of information technology in the work of archivists.
